THE RELIGION OF SECULARISM - STORIES & QUOTES

"When a people lose their history, they lose a part of who they are. It's time to reclaim your heritage."

“There is a battle in our society, a battle in the western world; it’s been lost in the rest of the Western world, at least in Western Europe. The battle ground for this is the United States of America. Will we be governered by, in our own lives, Judaeo Christian values or secular values.”

“…But least we fool ourselves into thinking that today we have not created a government that "endorses" or is close to establishing a state religion, well, we have, but it is not the one many think. Our government endorses the religion of secularism, humanism, moral relativism and neutralism. Dr. Phil would say, “choosing is not to choose is still a choice,” so the same thought can be applied to the current nature of our lawmaking. Even a belief system based on no particular beliefs, or a secular belief, or a neutral belief system, inevitable still a particular belief system.”

— Kevin Smith, resident Litchfield, NH (Opinion New Hampshire Union Leader, 6-29-2015 titled Crafting a national religion for America: Secularism)

A 'gay' Muslim Democrat walks into a bar … - By Matt Barber -In reality, Christ and his followers deeply love the LGBT-identified community enough to tell them the truth about a sin-centric lifestyle that leads to emotional, spiritual and, with rampant AIDS, syphilis and other STDs increasingly endemic to the lifestyle, even physical death. We pray that each and every person who identifies as “LGBT” might come to repentance and salvation through Christ Jesus, who is the only Way to eternal Life.

By contrast, Allah the deceiver and his followers kill homosexuals, not out of hate, though it is hateful, but out of “compassion.” They actually believe they’re being compassionate by killing “gays” because the Quran and the imam’s tell them so. (Mateen most likely targeted his fellow “gays” in an attempt to garner absolution from Allah for sodomy).

IMPORTANCE OF RELIGION TO SOCIETY - by William Ellery Channing - Few men suspect, perhaps no man comprehends the extent of the support given by religion to the virtues of ordinary life. No man perhaps is aware, how much our moral and social sentiments are fed from this fountain—how powerless conscience would become without the belief of a God—how palsied would be human benevolence, were there not the sense of a higher benevolence to quicken and sustain it—how suddenly the whole social fabric would quake, and with what a fearful crash it would sink into hopeless ruins, were the ideas of a Supreme Being, of accountableness, and of a future life, to be utterly erased from every mind. Once let men thoroughly believe that they are the work and sport of chance; that no superior intelligence concerns itself with human affairs; that all their improvements perish for ever at death; that the weak have no guardian, and the injured no avenger; that there is no recompense for sacrifices to uprightness and the public good; that an oath is unheard in heaven; that secret crimes have no witness but the perpetrator; that human existence has no purpose, and human virtue no unfailing friend; that this brief life is everything to us, and death is total, everlasting extinction; once let men thoroughly abandon religion, and who can conceive or describe the extent of the desolation which would follow? We hope perhaps that human laws and natural sympathy would hold society together. As reasonably might we believe, that were the sun quenched in the heavens, our torches could illuminate, and our fires quicken and fertilize the earth. What is there in human nature to awaken respect and tenderness, if man is the unprotected insect of a day? and what is he more if Atheism be true? Erase all thought and fear of God from a community, and selfishness and sensuality would absorb the whole man. Appetite, knowing no restraint, and poverty and suffering, having no solace or hope, would trample in scorn on the restraints of human laws. Virtue, duty, principle, would be mocked and spurned as unmeaning sounds. A sordid self-interest, would supplant every other feeling, and man would become in fact, what the theory of Atheism declares him to be, a companion for brutes.

It particularly deserves attention in this discussion, that the Christian religion is singularly important to free communities. In truth, we may doubt whether civil freedom can subsist without it. This at least we know, that equal rights and an impartial administration of justice, have never been enjoyed where this religion has not been understood. It favors free institutions, first, because its spirit is the very spirit of liberty; that is, a spirit of respect for the interests and’ rights of others. Christianity recognizes the essential equality of mankind; beats down with its whole might those aspiring and rapacious principles of our nature, which have subjected the many to the few; and, by its refining influence, as well as by direct precept, turns to God, and to Him only, that supreme homage which has been so impiously lavished on crowned and titled fellow-creatures. Thus its whole tendency is free. It lays deeply the only foundations of liberty, which are the principles of benevolence, justice, and respect for human nature. The spirit of liberty is not merely, as multitudes imagine, a jealousy of our own particular rights, an unwillingness to be oppressed ourselves, but a respect for the rights of others, and unwillingness that any man, whether high or low, should be wronged, and trampled underfoot. Now this is the spirit of Christianity; and liberty has no security, any farther than this uprightness and benevolence of sentiment actuates a community.

In another method, religion befriends liberty. It diminishes the necessity of public restraints, and supersedes in a great degree the use of force in administering the laws; and this it does, by making men a law to themselves, and by repressing the disposition to disturb and injure society. Take away the purifying and restraining influence of religion, and selfishness, rapacity, and injustice will break out in new excesses; and amidst the increasing perils of society, government must be strengthened to defend it, must accumulate means of repressing disorder and crime; and this strength and these means may be, and often have been, turned against the freedom of the state which they were meant to secure. Diminish principle, and you increase the need of force in a community. In this country, government needs not the array of power which you meet in other nations—no guards of soldiers, no hosts of spies, no vexatious regulations of police—but accomplishes its beneficent purposes by a few unarmed judges and civil officers, and operates so silently around us, and comes so seldom in contact with us, that many of us enjoy its blessings with hardly a thought of its existence. This is the perfection of freedom; and to what do we owe this condition? I answer, to the power of those laws which religion writes on our hearts, which unite and concentrate public opinion against injustice and oppression, which spread a spirit of equity and good will through the community. Thus religion is the soul of freedom, and no nation under heaven has such an interest in it as ourselves.

— William Ellery Channing (1780–1842) Unitarian Preacher

How the left revels in violating the 10 Commandments - By Dina Kalmeta - Link to Website

“Goodness always appears as a reproach to those who are not living right, and this reproach on the part of the sinner expresses itself in hatred and persecution. There is rarely a disrupted, frustrated soul, critical and envious of his neighbor who is not at the same time an antireligious individual. Organized atheism is thus a projection of self-hatred; no one hates God without first hating himself. Persecution of religion is a sign of the indefensibility of the antireligious or atheistic attitude, for by the violence of hate it hopes to escape the irrationality of Godlessness. The final form of this hatred of religion is a wish to defy God and to maintain one’s own evil in the face of His Goodness and Power. Revolting against the whole existence, such a soul thinks that it has disproved it; it begins to admire its own torment as a protest against life. Such a soul will not hear about religion, lest the comfort become a condemnation of its own arrogance, and so it defiles it instead.”

— Fulton J. Sheen (1895–1979) Catholic Archbishop, Professor, Radio & Television Show Host, The Fulton Sheen Program (book Peace of Soul, pg 10-11)

Yes, Universities Discriminate Against Conservatives - By David French - Why are there so few conservative professors in American higher education? University leftists like to say that it’s a combination of self-selection and intellectual interest. There are simply fewer conservatives who are interested in, say, sociology or art history. I’d buy “fewer,” but I simply don’t accept that “fewer” means “virtually none.” There is rampant discrimination in higher education, and it’s not against minorities — indeed, universities often violate state and federal law and their own policies in the quest to increase ethnic, gender, and sexual diversity. It’s against conservatives. …

The result is an academic world that is staggeringly one-sided: … A comprehensive study by James Lindgren of Northwestern University Law School shows that in a country fairly evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, only 13% of law professors identify as Republican. And a recent study by Jonathan Haidt of New York University showed that 96% of social psychologists identify as left of center, 3.7% as centrist/moderate and only 0.03% as right of center. …

Parents are paying tens of thousands of dollars to send their children to glorified propaganda mills, where students (to borrow my friend Greg Lukianoff’s excellent phrase) “unlearn liberty.” You can call this “college,” but don’t dare call it an “education.” - Link to Website

Biblical World University Why Men Commit Evil Acts - By Stephen McDowell - What Motivates Muslim Terrorists, Mass Murderers, and Destructive Anarchists, and How Do We Stop Them? “Why do they hate us so much?” …To secular humanistic thinkers, who believe that man is basically good, there must have been some external situation or action of others to cause these people to do what they did. Thus, America and the capitalistic West, by their unjust and oppressive behavior, must have provoked …

Lacking a Christian view of man prohibits a correct answer to their question of motive. Why do men commit evil acts? Biblical Christianity provides a clear answer to this question.

1.      Man is sinful and his heart is deceitful and desperately wicked.

2.      There is a devil who hates God and His children and who seeks to destroy His Kingdom.

3.      Sinful men, with Satan’s encouragement, embrace demented ideas that cause them to commit evil acts. … - Link to Website

Humanism vs. Christianity - The Greatest Battle Of Our Time - By Robert L. Waggoner - Many have commented upon the moral deterioration of our civilization. “Western civilization has entered a period of breakdown from which it may never recover.” …Civilization is collapsing before our eyes.” “American society is an impasse similar to that of the Hellenic world at the time of Christ.” “The United States is undergoing a third time of trial, which may be even more severe than those of the Revolution and the Civil War.” …

We are living in times comparable to the decline and fall of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah. While all may appear prosperous on the surface, as it did in the days of Jeroboam II in the northern kingdom of Israel, there is real danger of national collapse. …

Because humanists believe that people differ in their perspectives, and that no one person’s beliefs are inherently preferable to any others, then it follows that, for humanists, an open society must maintain pluralistic behavioral standards regarding truth, piety, virtue, justice, etc. Should any particular standard of behavior dominate a society at any given time, it is not because that standard has any greater inherent value, but it is because that particular society has collectively chosen, for whatever reasons, to live by it…..

SECULARISM – THE MOST EVIL PHILOSOPHY KNOWN TO HUMAN GOVERNMENT - By Robin A. Brace -

Secularism: The belief that religion should have no place in civil affairs.

Modern Western Secularism: The banning of Christianity from as much of modern life as possible.

A man I worked with back in the 1960s used to say, “Religion? It has caused more violence and suffering than anything else in history!”

It became somewhat fashionable during the 20th century to claim that the most wicked governments in human history were governments with a religious (usually a Christian) agenda. This claim – totally unsubstantiated by the facts – started to be heard everywhere, especially, of course, among liberals and socialists, and atheists often threw this claim at believers. Indeed, even in this early 21st century, Richard Dawkins still uses this outdated (and now well disproven) argument - not the only outdated and now discredited argument which Dawkins uses against Christianity!

The true facts are rather different, indeed, quite dramatically different. I want to give five or six examples which amount to very powerful evidence that it is God-denying Secularism which has caused more violence and suffering than anything else in history. …

Secularism (in its many forms) when adopted by human government is a mass-killer!- Link to Website

“As all humans are touched by God’s love, so all are also touched by the desire for His intimacy. No one escapes this longing; we are all kings in exile, miserable without the Infinite. Those who reject the grace of God have a desire to avoid God, as those who accept it have a desire for God. The modern atheist does not disbelieve because of his intellect, but because of his will; it is not knowledge that makes him an atheist but perversity.

The denial of God springs from a man’s desire not to have a God — from his wish that there were no Justice behind the universe, so that his injustices would fear not retribution; from his desire that there be no Law, so that he may not be judged by it; from his wish that there were no Absolute Goodness, that he might go on sinning with impunity.

That is why the modern atheist is always angered when he hears anything said about God and religion — he would be incapable of such a resentment if God were only a myth. His feeling toward God is the same as that which a wicked man has for one whom he has wronged: he wishes he were dead so that he could do nothing to avenge the wrong.

The betrayer of friendship knows his friend exists, but he wished he did not. The post-Christian atheist knows God exists, but he desires He should not.”

— Fulton J. Sheen (1895–1979) Catholic Archbishop, Professor, Radio & Television Show Host, The Fulton Sheen Program (book Peace of Soul, pg 242)

God versus Socialism - By Dr. Joel McDurmon  - God Almighty owns everything. This is the biblical view: “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it” (Ps. 24:1); God says, “[E]very beast of the forest is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains, and everything that moves in the field is Mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is Mine, and all it contains (Psa. 50:9-12).

God created mankind in His own image. Man reflects God’s character and order. Just as God owns everything, God delegated the stewardship and dominion of property to His image, mankind (Gen. 1:26-28), and thus humans have the capacity and calling to act as private owners….

Socialism is the belief that individual private property is a bad idea. It is thus an anti-Christian and anti-biblical belief. Socialists believe that governments should own most or all property and distribute it out as government experts, scientists, politicians, or occasionally voters see fit. Under socialism, the State puts itself in the place of God …

Between these two beliefs—private property and socialism— there exists fundamental conflict. They represent contradictory views of sovereignty, man, law, society, and inheritance. They are fundamentally rival religious systems. Choosing one, you reject the other; service and honor to God, or servitude to fellow men. Either God commands and judges man, or man commands and judges man. - Link to Website

THE HISTORY OF SOCIALISM  - By A. R. Peach  - Socialism is defined to be a modern system of economics where property and the means of production are controlled by the state; where it is said that socialism stands in contrast with capitalism and free market economics.

The problem is that this doesn’t explain the socialist positions on environmentalism, family, abortion, and homosexuality; or their hostility towards Hebrews, Christians, and family.

A more accurate definition is provided by Barrack Obama’s mentor Zbigniew Brzezinski, who relates it to totalitarianism saying, “[It] is a system of revolution. It is a revolution seeking to destroy the existing political order with the goal of changing existing economic, social, and cultural aspects of a people in accordance with a new ideological outline.” That ideology is called socialism, and its purpose is to impose a totalitarian set of economic, philosophical, religious, and scientific values dictating what is good, evil, just, unjust, right, or wrong.  - Link to Website

SECULARISM - THE MOST EVIL PHILOSOPHY KNOWN TO HUMAN GOVERNMENT … "Is it not most interesting that every human government which has resulted from the overturning of the authority of the Church has also been cruel, despotic and willing to kill with impunity?" A man I worked with back in the 1960s used to say, "Religion? It has caused more violence and suffering than anything else in history!"

It became somewhat fashionable during the 20th century to claim that the most wicked governments in human history were governments with a religious (usually a Christian) agenda. This claim - totally unsubstantiated by the facts - started to be heard everywhere, especially, of course, among liberals and socialists, and atheists often threw this claim at believers. The true facts are rather different, indeed, quite dramatically different. I want to give five or six examples which amount to very powerful evidence that it is God-denying Secularism which has caused more violence and suffering than anything else in history. …

In the 20th century alone, more people were slaughtered under Secularist God-denying governments, and in the name of secularist ideologies, such as Nazism and Communism, than in all the documented religious persecutions within western history combined!

Most people know that Hitler was responsible for the deaths of 6,000,000 Jews alone (apart, that is, from the other groups of Slavs, Poles etc., which his henchmen slaughtered on a vast scale). What is probably far less well-known is that as many as 110-118 million people have been killed by Communism alone - in eastern Europe, Africa, Central and South America and in southeast Asia. …

We have not here even considered the great non-religious conquering warlords of earlier times, including Genghis Khan and Atilla the Hun, but there were several others too. These conquerors presided over the slaughter of untold millions. How many died as the result of their campaigns? 7 million? That sounds much too low. 20 million? 45 million? Nobody knows for sure. But what we should by now clearly be able to see from our brief study is that the oft-heard 20th century claim (still upheld by people like Richard Dawkins), that Christianity and organised religion in general have caused more violence and suffering than anything else in human history, is not only defeated but defeated with some ease. Indeed we have learned that it is Secular human governments, whether pre-Christian or motivated by Communism, Nazism or Liberalism (the French Republic), which have unleashed untold human suffering upon this planet - much of this occurring within the 20th century alone. Incidentally, of that huge portion of this death and destruction which took place in the 20th century, a large part is directly attributable to the influence of Charles Darwin and Darwinism, a major atheistic influence.

Robin A. Brace - British Evangelical Conservative Theologian, founder of UK Apologetics

To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family tradition, national patriotism, and religious dogmas. ... We have swallowed all manner of poisonous certainties fed us by our parents, our Sunday and day school teachers, our politicians, our priests, newspapers and others with vested interest in controlling us. The reinterpretation and eventual eradication of the concept of right and wrong which has been the basis of child training, the substitution of intelligent and rational thinking for faith in the certainties of old people, these are the belated objectives. ... for charting the changes in human behavior.

[George] Brock Chislholm (1896-1971) Canadian WWI Veteran, Doctor, First World War Director-General of World Health Organization (1959, American Humanist Association named him Humanist of the Year)

There is no God and there is no soul. Hence, there is no need for the props of traditional religion. With dogma and creed excluded, then immutable truth is also dead and buried. There is no room for fixed, natural law or moral absolutes.

“You can’t make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society, which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.

— John Dewey (1859-1952) Father of Progressive Education, Co-author of the first Humanist Manifesto, Honorary National Education Association President

“And how does god die? Quite simply because all his religionists have been converted to another religion, and there is no one left to make children believe they need him. Finally, it is irresistible — we must ask how can we kill the god of Christianity. We need only insure that our schools teach only secular knowledge…. If we achieve this, God would indeed be shortly due for a funeral service”
