The Teaching of American History: Promise and Performance – The appalling results of de-emphasizing the study of U.S. history in elementary and secondary schools have become painfully obvious in recent years. In the most recent round of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, only one fourth of American schoolchildren tested as proficient in their knowledge of U.S. history. A study in Arizona found that only 3.5 percent of high school students could pass the test of civic knowledge given to immigrants seeking to become U.S. citizens.

An analysis of adults’ knowledge of the American Revolution and the Founding of the United States exposed the sad reality that while 60 percent of respondents knew how many children “Jon and Kate” of reality-TV fame have, only slightly more than one-half could correctly identify James Madison as the “Father of the Constitution.” ..  –  Link to Website

66% Celebrate Christmas As A Religious Holiday – Rasmussen Reports – Sixty-six percent (66%) of Americans celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that another 20% celebrate the event as a secular holiday.

Of those who celebrate Christmas, 81% believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to earth to die for our sins and 72% say Jesus was born to a virgin.

Among all Americans, whether they celebrate Christmas or not, 82% say the person known to history as Jesus Christ actually walked the earth 2,000 years ago. Only three percent (3%) say he did not and 15% aren’t sure. …  –  Link to Website

NJ Teacher Tells Girl to Put Away Bible – A teacher at the Madison Park Elementary School in Old Bridge, N.J., told a 3rd grader that the Bible was not appropriate reading material for quiet time, and ordered the girl to put the book away, according to the girl’s parents. …

Michelle Jordat says her daughter, Mariah, cried when the teacher told her to put away the Bible. Jordat says her daughter’s feelings were hurt and she was confused. “This was injustice,” Jordat says. “No other child has to go through this again.” Jordat accepted the principal’s apology, but wants something in writing stating that reading the Bible is OK during personal reading time. Religious Liberty – In December 1944, American soldiers were fighting desperately against the last great German offensive of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. Men were dying in large numbers. The counterattack had bogged down in mud and rain. Planes could not fly because of low clouds. General George Patton, commander of the Third Army, called his chaplain into his headquarters and said:

Chaplain, I want you to publish a prayer for good weather. I’m tired of these soldiers having to fight mud and floods as well as Germans. See if we can’t get God to work on our side. …

Patton’s memoirs tells what happened next: “The day after the prayer was issued, the weather cleared and remained perfect for about six days. Enough to allow the Allies to break the backbone of the German offensive and turn a temporary setback for the Allies into a crushing defeat for the enemy. –  Link to Website

Mass. 2nd-grader sent home for crucifix drawing – An 8-year-old boy was sent home from school and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation after he was asked to make a Christmas drawing and came up with what appeared to be a stick figure of Jesus on a cross, the child’s father said Tuesday. … –  Link to Website

Congressional Health Care Sunday?  – On Sunday, December 6, 2009, President Obama traveled to Capitol Hill to speak to the Senate Democrat Caucus to rally their support for the federal government health care seizure and takeover plan. Following that lobbying meeting with the President, Senate leader Harry Reid took the Senate into an extremely rare Sunday session where they continued debating the many problems with the health care bill, including required abortion coverage and the public option issue.

Sunday sessions have been extremely rare because of the U. S. Constitution’s Article I “Sundays Excepted” Clause, which excludes Sunday from the federal lawmaking process. The Framers of the Constitution held great respect for the Christian Sabbath and therefore removed it from the federal lawmaking calendar. …

Despite such concerns, earlier in the year Senator Harry Reid called the Senate into a rare Sunday session for a vote on a lands bill – a session which, in the words of one prominent national newspaper, communicated the clear message “church be damned.”

Significantly, until the twentieth century, Sunday remained off-limits as a legislative day. Then after a few Sunday sessions popped up in the early twentieth century, Congress returned to the constitutional directive. In fact, there were no congressional Sunday sessions even during the nation’s most serious crises, including World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Only in recent years has Congress decided to violate the spirit if not the letter of the Constitution’s “Sunday’s Excepted” Clause.

Even the liberal 1961 U. S. Supreme Court recognized and acknowledged the religious significance of this important constitutional clause:

First is the inclusion in the U. S. Constitution of the recognition of the Sabbath in Art. I, Sec. 7, 2, stipulating that the President has 10 days to sign a law, “Sundays excepted.” . . . Can any impartial mind deny that it contains a recognition of the Lord’s Day as a day exempted by law from all worldly pursuits? . . . Sunday was recognized as a day of rest. … –  Link to Website

Six Bogus Beliefs Held By Youth – Young people are incapable of recognizing their own enemy –  This is the essential condition required for the peaceful transfer of political power to a world dictatorship. As a young man who recently received an “education” from one of the finest schools in the U.S., I can state beyond doubt that this condition has been met. In a society conditioned to champion personal ambition, self-expression and self-empowerment, the educated youth of today are kept intoxicated with illusions.  Everyone is looking up, staring at the sun, and unable to stop and think for even a moment out of fear of losing their momentum up the ladder. With these unquestioned six beliefs alone, defenders of humanistic internationalist doctrine are created. Good, intelligent kids that are just trying to do their best and find their place in the world while fulfilling their parents’ expectations have been conditioned to unwittingly serve and defend the interests of a small group of psychotic criminals.  

Reversing this process will require an equally gradual counter-movement based on restoring God (reality) and destroying Evil (illusion). We lack the luxury of trying to stop the momentum of the opposing movement.  Instead we must strike with the power of our spirit and moral superiority.  

If we would like to establish a world where people are held accountable for the actions, we must be willing to give everyone a clean slate. We cannot hold people responsible for their actions when they live in a state of confusion. ‘Safe schools’ chief recommends child porn for classroom reading – ‘Sex acts between preschoolers’ among subjects of books backed by openly ‘gay’ Obama adviser –  A new report is raising alarms that the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, a homosexual advocacy organization founded by Kevin Jennings, now head of the U.S. Office of Safe Schools for the Obama administration, is recommending XXX-rated sex writings for children as young as preschoolers.

Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between preschoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, ….

BRAVE NEW SCHOOLS – Judge: Parents bigots for opposing ‘gay’ lessons Families grilled about religious beliefs, church sermons against homosexuality – A judge has attacked parents, suggesting they are bigots for seeking to opt-out their elementary-age children from a mandatory controversial pro-homosexual curriculum, according to a non-profit law firm. …California’s Alameda Superior Court by Pacific Justice Institute. On Dec. 1, Judge Frank Roesch denied a motion to allow them to have their children excused from the lessons. According to the group, Roesch blasted the parents for seeking enforcement of a provision of the California Education Code that gives parents a right to opt their kids out of health education.

Education Code Section 51240 allows a parent to have a student excused from instruction, “If any part of a school’s instruction in health conflicts with the religious training and beliefs of a parent or guardian of a pupil.”

However, Pacific Justice Institute said Roesch repeatedly insinuated that the parents are bigots and insisted there can be no homosexual indoctrination because, he purportedly argued, people are born that way. …

He explained, “The whole purpose of the book was to get the subject [of same-sex parents] out into the minds and the awareness of children before they are old enough to have been convinced that there’s another way of looking at life. … It would be really nice if children were not subjected to the – I don’t want to use the word ‘bigotry,’ but that’s what I want to say anyway – of their parents and older people.” …

Second grade students read about two homosexual penguins that raise a young chick in the book “And Tango Makes Three” by J. Richardson and P. Parnell.The two male penguins, Roy and Silo, are described as being “a little bit different.” … In the third grade, students watch a film called “That’s a Family,” featuring some homosexual couples in addition to traditional families. …Fourth graders are required to read an essay titled, “My School is Accepting – but Things Could be Better” by Robert, an 11-year-old who has two lesbian mothers. They are introduced to terms such as “ally,” “gay,” “lesbian” and “LGBT.”

Teachers are instructed to ask, “How do you think Robert feels when he hears people say things like, ‘this is gay’ or ‘You’re so gay’?” By fifth grade, students learn to “identify stereotypes about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.” They are told that “LGBT people have made important contributions within the United States and beyond.” –  Link to Website

Out with Jesus, in with ‘Frosty the Snowman’ – Federal court upholds school district’s ban on tunes about Christ – The 3rd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Philadelphia has upheld a school district’s ban on Christmas carols such as “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” “Oh, Come All Ye Faithful” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” – and approved “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.”

In the Nov. 24 ruling the Third Circuit approved the school policy banning all religious Christmas music, including instrumentals, that had been part of the South Orange-Maplewood School District’s Christmas program for years – until one parent complained. … the school’s ban was specifically aimed at preventing Christmas music, including simple instrumentals without words, during holiday concerts. Amen.’ Pope Leo’s vision, of course, is strikingly similar to the power granted Satan by God in the Book of Job.

The 75-100 years of Satanic power Pope Leo foresaw through his vision would, at its greatest extent, take the world through the year 1984, halfway through the Ronald Reagan presidency in the U.S. It would have encompassed World Wars I and II, the Great Depression, and the Cold War. POW Jeremiah Denton: God Spoke to Me in Prison – Adm. Jeremiah Denton, a former U.S. senator who spent seven years in brutal conditions as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War, credits his survival and subsequent success to giving himself over to God after enduring years of torture. … “Well, this is going to sound kooky I guess, but I heard a voice in my cell when I was nearing despair and saying to the Lord I’m not sure I can go on comporting myself in an honorable fashion,” Denton told Martella. “I’ve just got to have some help. About five or ten seconds after I said that… the only noise I could hear was this man being tortured who was shrieking… and this clear voice came out and said, ‘Say sacred heart of Jesus, I give myself to you.’ “ … “And that just broke me up. By any “non-totalitarian” standards, he wrote, plans being made so far by the school are “severely unjust and impermissibly intrude into matters of individual conscience.” Kissel wrote that it appears that the university “intends to redesign its admissions process so that it screens out people with the ‘wrong’ beliefs and values – those who either do not have sufficient ‘cultural competence’ or those who the college judges will not be able to be converted to the ‘correct’ beliefs and values even after remedial re-education.” “These intentions violate the freedom of conscience of the university’s students. Why sin cannot be condoned by state – Joseph Farah – On Friday, more than 150 Christian leaders, most of them conservative evangelicals and traditionalist Roman Catholics, issued a joint declaration reaffirming their opposition to homosexual marriage on the basis of protecting religious freedom. While I agree that government’s granting of special “rights” based on aberrant sexual behavior is a religious freedom issue, it’s not the main reason for concern by Christians and Jews. The Bible clearly identifies homosexual behavior, as opposed to homosexual thoughts or predilections, as sin. The issue Christians and Jews should be focused upon is whether it can ever be acceptable for the government to condone sin – or, worse yet, encourage it by making it a “right.” I don’t believe government can do that without dire consequences. …

He’s saying something to which every Christian, every Jew and every American should pay close attention: God has revealed to all men the difference between right and wrong. You may not like God’s rules, but we are all without excuse as to what those rules are. If you don’t obey God’s rules, your heart becomes darkened to the truth. You might think you know better than God, but you are actually a fool if you do. When a whole society rejects the One True God and begins worshipping false gods, it opens the society up to judgment.

Those judgments include the following: more unrighteous behavior, sexual immorality, meanness, greed, envy, violence, conflict, lies, gossip, hate for God, pride, self-centeredness, mercilessness and disrespect for parents by children. Notice that No. 1 on that list is homosexuality. However, also notice, it’s not just homosexuality, but an increase in those who take pleasure in the exhibition of homosexual behavior that comes as a judgment on a society rejecting God.

American Patriotism Is Still Alive – We are a Homeschooling family. American History is our favorite subject, and we love going to the Taxpayers Tea Parties. …The kids were amazed by the passion of the speakers addressing the crowd in the open air. They liked answering the speakers saying,”We say no,” in unison with the crowd.  …I told them that Patrick Henry made a stirring speech in which he said “Give me liberty, or give me death.” And that speech was the spark that ignited the American Revolution. It must have been some speech.

So I found it and read it to the children While I was reading it, I realized that I had never seen the entire speech before. some important things about it. I studied American History in college, but we only read the part where Patrick Henry proclaimed, “Give me liberty or give me death.” It’s very likely that you have never read it either, and I’ll tell you why. Patrick Henry’s speech has been removed from our textbooks because he talks about God in it.  If  young and impressionable school children read this, they might be inspired to love God and to love America. That would defeat the purpose of modern education which is to indoctrinate our children with secularism, multi-culturism, and socialism. …- Link to Website  Linkable Page

Editors Note: Not only have the religious portions of Patrick Henry’s speech been removed from most text books used in public schools, many other important documents and speeches have been changed or removed as well. George Washington’s first and last Inaugural Address, once considered mandatory reading for students has been removed from the curriculum. In our politically correct, anti-religious, secular American public school system, Washington’s Inaugural Address was removed because of the references to God, and God’s hand, in establishment of the United States. Washington’s words wisdom, his timeless advice to future generations for the perpetuation and survival of our republic, today, are considered too dangerous for the minds of young readers to be exposed to.

The result of this sanitizing of American history is that, by design, the vast majority of public school children (& past 2-3 generations) will be taught an incorrect, skewed, Godless view of history. Most Americans will live their entire lives never knowing their country’s true history. They will never know its precious, rich, Christian heritage and miracles that came about to help establish the Republic. Ignorant of their true history, and ignorant that their rights come from God, not government; many Americans, when asked, will say the government of the United States is a Democracy or representative Democracy, not a Constitutional Republic. That is what they have been taught in school and is what hear in the media. But under a Democracy, it is government (majority or mob rule) who determines what rights you have, and sadly one by one (as many are starting to wake up to), they have already lost many of their rights, liberties, and freedoms that our Founding Fathers and earlier citizens fought and died to protect.  

A Thanksgiving Lesson – Did you know that our Pilgrim forefathers tried communism when they first landed at Plymouth Rock? – How’s that for a dramatic beginning to a story? Years ago, when I used to give a lot of talks to high school classes, this was one of my favorites. It always got the students’ attention. And I have to admit, I also enjoyed seeing some liberal teachers get so upset with me they almost lost their lunches. … The Pilgrims who arrived at Plymouth Rock in 1620 were incredibly brave and hardy souls. They were motivated by the noblest of virtues. They vowed, each and every one, to be as selfless as possible—to always put the needs of the group first. They agreed to own everything in common and to share everything equally.

And their naïve piety almost killed the entire colony. We all know how the adventure begins. A group of devout Christians, seeking religious freedom for themselves and eager to “advance the Gospel of the Kingdom of Christ” in the New World …Unfortunately, thanks to illness, injury and attitude, the system did not work. Pilferage from the storehouse became common. Suspicions of malingering were muttered. Over the course of that first, harsh winter, nearly half of the colonists perished. Four families were wiped out completely; …The colonists struggled desperately for two more years. When spring arrived in April 1623, virtually all of their provisions were gone. Unless that year’s harvest improved, they feared few would survive the next winter. The Pilgrim leaders decided on a bold course. The colony would abandon its communal approach and permit each person to work for his own benefit, not for the common good. …

Once they replaced communal efforts with individual responsibility the differences were dramatic—and life-saving. Men went into the fields earlier and stayed later. In many cases, their wives and even their children (some barely past the toddler stage) worked right alongside them. More acres were planted, more trees were felled, more houses were built, and more game was slaughtered because of one simple change: People were allowed to keep the fruits of their own labors. …  – Link to Website

Government schools are killing America – Molotov Mitchell – America’s number one problem is our lack of theological understanding, which leads to a lack of spiritual relationship with God. Our number two problem is public education … Internationally; American is not even rated in the 25 for science, math or reading. Finland on the other hand is ranked either number one or two in every one of those categories. What is their secret? Vouchers.

Finnish parents get tax credits so they get to send the kids to what ever school they want, pubic for private. Isn’t that the way it should be? Isn’t that best for the kid? Shouldn’t parents decide which school their kids go to and where their tax dollar going? But here, in the land of the free …  unless you are talking about teen abortions without parental consent, choice is a dirty word … homeschooled kids understand the Constitution, on average, far better than public school kids. That would make sense, the Founding Fathers were, after all, homeschooled.

This year an organization called Exodus Mandate has called on all Christian families to yank their kids out of the public education system, immediately. It has been a long time coming brother. The public education systems can NOT BE REFORMED. Public education founder C. F. Potter stated that one hour of Sunday School cannot possibly stem the tide of five days of humanist education. You see, from the beginning, the goal was never about education, it has always been about indoctrination. That is why our kids know everyting about sex and nothing about history. National Park Service removes God from Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation – These days, it seems to be getting more and more difficult to know what information you can trust, especially with the main stream media and many web sites on the internet. If you expected federal government web sites that exhibit our founding history, documents and historical sites immune from revision or omission, you would be wrong. In our politically correct, secular, anti-God society today, nothing it seems is off limits. Not even Lincoln’s Proclamation establishing the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving is immune from revision.

Revising, and sanitizing, American history, by removing God is nothing new; it has been going on in the public school system for two or three generations. So too has this been happening to many of our important national documents, and historical sites, as well. A number of books like The Rewriting of American’s History and other books document expunging God from our national history. The same has been observed, and documented, with many of our historical sites as well. Examples are too numerous to mention. One such example I ran into today that prompted this piece was the National Park Service’s web site listing Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation.

One of the most common “omissions” in documents on many federal and state web sites is to remove the last paragraph or words “in the year of our Lord …” Another is to post only a portion of the document or letter thus, removing the religious portion. And yet another is to make the document harder to find, or in rare cases, removing the document altogether. Below is an example from the National Park Service web site of Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation. Omitted from Lincoln’s October 3, 1863, Thanksgiving Day Proclamation is in the last paragraph of the text, “Done at the city of Washington, this third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the independence of the United States the eighty-eighth.” – Link to National Park Service Web Site

Phrases like, “in the year of our Lord,” not only define the religious nature of our country’s founding, they show that our calendar is dated to the birth of Jesus Christ. This is why it is often removed from many historical documents. ….  – Article Link

The Results of Our Ignorance – Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, education or awareness. There are many people today who know little or nothing about the U.S. Constitution. There are many who know little or nothing of U.S. history, let alone world history. There are many who know little or nothing about central banks, and how they are used to steal our wealth. There are many who buy into the glossed-over news of the day. There are many who take at face value the words of the elected class, the pundits and main stream media talking heads and printed headlines. There are many who buy into the party line of their preferred political party. There are many who blindly believe the various political parties have a platform on which they base their actions and agendas and are committed to following through on those policies. There are many who believe the president, senator or representative they elected has in their hearts the best interests of the people they supposedly serve.

There are many who are ignorant. It’s not all their fault—particularly the younger generations. Their education system has been corrupted by 1960s radicalism—the same radicalism that has infected our government. Public education has become a sad joke. …Don’t think the elected class is ignorant. They’re not. They know exactly what they’re doing—stealing your wealth and your liberty. Never mind whether it’s Constitutional, says the elected class. We know what’s best for you. Thy kingdom come – You cannot understand history without understanding Divine Providence. The whole of history can be looked at from a Biblical philosophy, because there is an overall purpose that unifies all the specific events of history. From a humanistic standpoint, there is no purpose in history and hence no unifying theme that ties the events of history together. Many modern educators deny the Providential view of history and would have us believe that their promotion of one of several “secular” views of history is simply the recounting of brute facts.

God’s plan for the nations has been unfolding in a specific geographic direction. This geographical march of history is called the Chain of Christianity or the Chain of Liberty. It seems as if God’s direction is westward. “Christian” geography (which is true geography) is the view that the earth’s origin, end, purposes, and physiography are for Christ and His glory. Like individuals, nations have a unique purpose. SAINT PATRICK’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO WESTERN (CHRISTIAN) CIVILIZATION – Across America, great frustration and anger are rising, as productive Americans feel that they are buried in hundreds of thousands of laws and tax codes that dominate their everyday lives, families, property and businesses. …Why is this happening? America is at the tipping point between the two major conflicting law systems of people and nations: King’s or Ruler’s Law and God’s Law. America was founded upon a simple and yet profoundly effective infrastructure built upon voluntary obedience to God’s Law. The result was blessing, prosperity and personal liberty as the world had never before experienced. Taxes were low, laws were few and life and charity were focused at the family and community level.

But the past few generations have been seduced back toward the top-down Ruler’s Law which has dominated most nations of the world. This system always enslaves a people through an elaborate network of bureaucracy and ruler’s laws, eventually leaving them dependent upon government for everything. The rulers often make god-like promises and always exempt themselves from their own onerous laws and taxes.

The answer to this juggernaut of Ruler’s Law has always been the same throughout history. The story of the rise of liberty has repeated itself for two millennia. First a people find themselves in misery under the strong arm of their government. Then God raises up a small minority, sometimes one individual, who rediscovers that the only source of liberty is God and His Word. Working together with God, they then proceed to liberate millions with His truth. Be encouraged that we can restore our nation against all odds. There is no better place to start to see what can be done than to track the impact of early believers as they faced the cruelty of Rome on the one hand and the anarchy and barbarity of the pagan tribes of Europe on the other. They ultimately outlasted and defeated the Roman Empire and laid the foundations for Western Civilization. They turned the world upside down by following their Lord’s strategy of servant leadership (Mathew 20:25). They started by first living out God’s Law in their homes, businesses and church fellowships. Then they extended charity in many ways including, feeding the poor and saving abandoned babies left to die. Alexander’s Essay – Nobody Questions That? – Never before has there been more evidence of outright contempt for our Constitution than under the current liberal hegemony presiding over the executive and legislative branches of our federal government. …Those who laid our constitutional foundation were very clear about its limits on government. John Shadegg has sponsored the Enumerated Powers Act (HR 1359), which requires that “Each Act of Congress shall contain a concise and definite statement of the constitutional authority relied upon for the enactment of each portion of that Act.” The measure continues to fail, however, because of a dirty little secret: There is no legitimate constitutional authority for almost 70 percent of current federal government programs, and, thus, no authority for the collection of taxes to fund such activities. Though Obama swore to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” and every member of Congress has pledged “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” and “bear true faith and allegiance to the same,” Democrats, and too many Republicans, have forsaken their sacred oaths. Barack Obama has failed to defeat conservatism in America – This week’s striking Gallop poll on political ideology is further confirmation that the United States is in essence a conservative nation, which has ironically become even more conservative under Barack Obama. WHY WE NEED THE FREEDOM IN EDUCATION ACT – (Undermining God, the Constitution and perverting history in schools) By Tom DeWeese – Your elected Representatives and Senators in Congress deny that this nation has a mandatory national education curriculum. Congress hides the fact of the existence of a mandatory national curriculum behind the historic arrangement of state and local control of schools. The U.S. national government denies that there is a national curriculum that teaches the need for world government over the need to safequard American national sovereignty and independence. Your Representatives and Senators in Congress are in the dark and the national government is lying.

The fact is, the building blocks of world government are being taught in a number of ways. There are several specific programs in today’s education curriculum designed to promote global government.

The International Baccalaureate Program (IB) created by the United Nations Economic, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is now in more than 500 American public schools and the U.S. Department of Education is helping to fund it. UNESCO says, “the program remains committed to changing children’s values so they think globally, rather than in parochial national terms from their own country’s viewpoint.” The IB curriculum achieves that goal, says UNESCO, by promoting human rights, social justice, sustainable development, population, health, environmental, and immigration concerns. Suit rebuffed to expel Pledge from school – Students in the local school district can still pledge allegiance to one nation “under God” for now, according to a U.S. District Court ruling handed down yesterday.

Chief Judge Steven J. McAuliffe dismissed all of the claims filed in 2007 by parents in the district and The Freedom From Religion Foundation against the Hanover School District and the two-state Dresden School District, asserting that the districts violated their children’s constitutional rights by exposing them daily to the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. – Link to Website

Report: Over 350 Public Schools Teaching the Bible – Leading the pack is Texas where more than 50 schools are teaching the course this fall, according to data from the Bible Literacy Project, which publishes The Bible and Its Influence, a student textbook designed for public school courses on the Bible.

Right behind Texas, schools in Georgia, California and Indiana are widely teaching lessons on the Bible using the Bible Literacy textbook. More than 10 percent of Georgia public high schools and more than 5 percent of public high schools in Alabama, Indiana and South Carolina are utilizing the program, said Chuck Stetson, chairman of the Bible Literacy Project board.

The Bible and Its Influence – reviewed by 40 religious and legal scholars representing evangelical, mainline Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox and Jewish communities – is reportedly the first student textbook that fulfills the legal standards of The Bible & Public Schools: A First Amendment Guide.

It was released in September 2005 and the primary goal of the course is biblical literacy. With so many divorcees, a growing number of youth often feel little real attach­ment, appre­ci­a­tion or abiding love for their par­ents or grand­par­ents. One can make a strong case for the present destruc­tion of fam­i­lies and mar­riages being the result of a series of ear­lier social engi­neering plans and schemes. …

A great number have served nobly during America’s wars–lost limbs and suf­fered from the stress of war. Are we to dis­honor them now for their sac­ri­fice by telling them they are a lia­bility? Others gave their sons and daugh­ters during wars and lived with the anguish of the loss. Is this how we honor that sac­ri­fice?—?to tell them that they are of no use? When I read the sto­ries of the young men and women who have sac­ri­ficed their lives in battle in today’s wars I wonder will they be dis­hon­ored in such a way when they get old or sick?.

We can hon­estly say that it was the labor of our seniors that built this great country, so how can be betray them now? Even worse is that we are telling them that we don’t even care that they are suf­fering during their last days and that they are aware that relief of their suf­fering exist, but they cannot have it??the money, they are told, would be better spent on edu­ca­tional pro­grams, studies of global cli­mate change and a plethora of other socialist dreams.  If we let this happen, we should hold our heads in shame. –  Link to Website

75 Percent of Oklahoma High School Students Can’t Name the First President of the U.S. – Only one in four Oklahoma public high school students can name the first President of the United States, according to a survey released today. … A thousand students were given 10 questions drawn from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services item bank. Candidates for U.S. citizenship must answer six questions correctly in order to become citizens.

About 92 percent of the people who take the citizenship test pass on their first try, according to immigration service data. However, Oklahoma students did not fare as well. Only about 3 percent of the students surveyed would have passed the citizenship test. –  Link to Website

Some Parents Revolt Over Obama’s Planned Speech to Children – President Obama’s plan to deliver a televised speech to public school students caused an uproar among conservative parents in Texas, who demanded that their children be allowed to skip the event, scheduled for Tuesday. “It seemed like a direct channel from the president of the United States into the classroom, to my child,” said Brent Curtis, an engineer who is keeping his three kids at home. “I don’t want our schools turned over to some socialist movement.” Most of the opposition was along similar lines, complaining either that the speech was indoctrination or that it had not been screened for political content.

White House officials stressed that the speech was not political, and would simply encourage children to work hard and stay in school. “It’s not a policy speech,” a spokeswoman for the Department of Education said, repeating the assurances that White House spokespeople issued Thursday.

Criticism of the speech began when it was learned that an accompanying lesson plan referred to ways students can “help the President” and urged them to think about “what the President wants us to do.” …

Mandatory Gay-Friendly Classes – A lawsuit in California that was filed last month by angry parents who object to a gay-friendly curriculum they say is being foisted on kindergartners could well become a test case for schools around the country. Parents in the Alameda Unified School District were refused the right to excuse their kids from classes that would teach all kids in the district’s elementary schools about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alternative families.

The parents say they are concerned about “indoctrination” in the schools, but administrators say the course is needed to protect against sexual discrimination — and that the lessons are protected by laws in California and 10 other states. Those states, which stretch from Washington to Maine, will now be eyeing the court results in California in a case that warring sides say pits parents’ rights against a schools’ responsibilities. ….The contested California curriculum includes an annual 45-minute LGBT lesson taught to kids from kindergarten through the fifth grade. Court orders Christian child into government education – A 10-year-old homeschool girl described as “well liked, social and interactive with her peers, academically promising and intellectually at or superior to grade level” has been told by a New Hampshire court official to attend a government school because she was too “vigorous” in defense of her Christian faith.

The decision from Marital Master Michael Garner reasoned that the girl’s “vigorous defense of her religious beliefs to [her] counselor suggests strongly that she has not had the opportunity to seriously consider any other point of view.” The recommendation was approved by JudgeLucinda V. Sadler, but it is being challenged by attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund who said it was “a step too far” for any court.

Florida Governor Credits Prayer at Kotel for No Hurricanes – Florida Governor Charlie Crist said his written prayers that were placed at the Western Wall (Kotel) have prevented hurricanes from striking the state the past two years. Crist, a Methodist, told real estate agents that during a trade mission to Israel in 2007, he went to the Western Wall and placed a note that said, “Dear G-d, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. As storms flare, so do attempts to deciede which are ‘SIGNS’ and which are not – …That was never more obvious than in Minneapolis last week – when an extremely rare tornado roared near the downtown and ripped a steeple off the flagship Lutheran cathedral while national leaders of that congregation were there in Minneapolis – across the street, at that very moment – preparing to vote on whether to have a more accepting policy toward homosexuals. So stark was the “sign” that it was commented about on both religious and secular blogs and even by leaders at the event itself – yet when it came down to the vote, they obviously dismissed it, for they proceeded not only to vote for a more accepting policy but, two days later, to allow actively homosexual as clergy!

Some said there had not been such a storm in ninety years (about as long as anyone could remember), and if that wasn’t enough of a “sign,” the tornado itself was brief and just a hundred yards wide and moved only over a distance of only half a mile – just enough to knock off the steeple, disrupt the meeting, and also destroy the roof and windows of a famous local music store called the “Electric Fetus.” This perhaps is taking happenstance – and rejection of signs – to a new level. A rare meteorological event like out of the Old Testament occurs and still Lutheran leaders proceed with a matter that contravenes Old and New Testament teachings. At the same time, a bizarre dark cloud and tornado warnings swept over Toronto, Canada and a vicious storm felled a hundred trees in New York City’s Central Park. – Link to Website

American Providentialial History – The History Guru  –  American history is, in the view of some, not the same as the history of any other nation. Instead, American History is the history of Providence. It is the history of how the divine hand has interacted with the human element to create a nation that is, in many ways, unique among the nations of the world. As such, its history is also unique among the history of the nations. In this view, American history is really American providential history; it’s the story of God’s interaction with humanity.

American providential history focuses on the unique elements in American history in which human beings have interacted with the divine. As such, it begins with a study of the early American settlers. These settlers, in many cases, came to America from Europe for religious reasons. In some instances, they were persecuted for their religious beliefs, such as was the case with the Pilgrims. In other instances, people came to America for missionary purposes – they hoped to spread Christianity to the native people of America.

From there, people interested in American providential history focus on the amazing events that occurred during the nation’s founding. They look at movements like the Great Awakening, which had a significant impact on the religious views of the colonists. In many ways, it was this Great Awakening that was responsible for the political spirit of independence that ultimately led to the creation of the United States.

The interaction of the Divine with America doesn’t stop there, however. American providential history looks at the subsequent events that have occurred, as well. For example, the struggle over slavery is viewed as God’s working in society to make sure that the God-given rights of life and liberty are protected for all people, not just the privileged few. A providential view of American history also sees America as a unique country in the eyes of God. It views America as a “city on a hill” that serves as a model for the rest of the world when it comes to liberty and freedom.  – Link to Website

Things that make you go, hmmm… … The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is considering a proposal that would allow members in homosexual relationships to serve as clergy. It has denied a motion to require a higher proportion of votes for the proposal to pass. New study shows homeschoolers excel academically – HSLDA released a new study: the Progress Report 2009: Homeschool Academic Achievement and Demographics, conducted by Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute, which surveyed 11,739 homeschooled students for the 2007–08 academic school year. The results were consistent with previous studies on homeschool academic achievement and showed that homeschoolers, on average, scored 37 percentile points above public school students on standardized achievement tests.

….“Because of the one-on-one instruction homeschoolers receive, we are prepared academically to be productive and contributing members of today’s society,” said Smith. The average public school spends nearly $10,000 per child per year whereas the Progress Report shows that the average homeschool parent spends about $500 per child per year.

“Homeschooling is a rapidly growing, thriving education movement that is challenging the conventional wisdom about the best way to raise and educate the next generation,” said Smith. In 1995, the FDA issued a policy statement saying that international standards such as Codex would supersede U.S. laws governing all food. Under the Central American Free Trade Agreement, which is illegal under current U.S. law, but is legal under international law, the U.S. is required to conform to Codex as it stands on December 31, 2009, unless it creates its own guidelines and gets them approved under the two step process. Obama Administration To Impose Liberal UN Curriculum – by Allen Quist – …the Obama administration’s education reform efforts” in its “$4.35 billion Race to the Top,” will include “adopting internationally benchmarked education standards.” These will be national standards, said the press release, keyed to international standards and will be incentivized to the states with federal “stimulus” dollars. …

According to the announcement, this federal curriculum will consist of “internationally benchmarked” standards. The only extant comprehensive “internationally benchmarked” education standards are those developed by UNESCO, the UN’s education arm The UNESCO website clarifies that its education standards conform to the treaties and agreements of the UN. This means that its curriculum includes, for example, the requirements of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) which says, “Education shall . . . further the activities of the United Nations” (Art. 26:2).

American schools used to teach the fundamental values of the United States-including the inalienable, God-given rights of life, liberty and property, as guaranteed by our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Not any more. Now our students will be indoctrinated in the UN’s definition of human rights. As clarified by the UN’s UDHR, our rights now may not “be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations” (Art 29:3). U.N. Report Advocates Teaching Masturbation to 5-Year-Olds The United Nations is recommending that children as young as five receive mandatory sexual education that would teach even pre-kindergarteners about masturbation and topics like gender violence. The U.N.’s Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) released a 98-page report in June offering a universal lesson plan for kids ranging in age from 5-18, an “informed approach to effective sex, relationships” and HIV education that they say is essential for “all young people.”

The U.N. insists the program is “age appropriate,” but critics say it’s exposing kids to sex far too early, and offers up abstract ideas — like “transphobia” — they might not even understand. “At that age they should be learning about … the proper name of certain parts of their bodies,” said Michelle Turner, president of Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum, “certainly not about masturbation.” Turner was disturbed by UNESCO’s plans to explain to children as young as nine about the safety of legal abortions, and to advocate and “promote the right to and access to safe abortion” for everyone over the age of 15. – Link to Website

Nebraska legislators seek to assert state sovereignty – At least three Nebraska lawmakers want to send a message to the federal government: Butt out of state business. Next year they will see if a majority of their colleagues agrees. The senators are working on resolutions asserting Nebraska’s sovereignty under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Nebraska wouldn’t try to secede from the union under their proposals but would go on record objecting to federal laws that they say go beyond constitutional authority. “My goal here is to shine light on the fact that the federal government is overstepping its bounds,” said State Sen. Tony Fulton of Lincoln. “We would be making a statement on behalf of Nebraska.”

The tension between states’ rights and federal authority has been a repeated theme in U.S. history, starting with arguments among the founding fathers. Palin to feds: Alaska is sovereign state – Constitutional rights reasserted in growing resistance to Washington –  Gov. Sarah Palin has signed a joint resolution declaring Alaska’s sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution – and now 36 other states have introduced similar resolutions as part of a growing resistance to the federal government.

Just weeks before she plans to step down from her position as Alaska governor, Palin signed House Joint Resolution 27, sponsored by state Rep. Mike Kelly on July 10, according to a Tenth Admendment Center report. The resolution “claims sovereignty for the state under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.” Alaska’s House passed HJR 27 by a vote of 37-0, and the Senate passed it by a vote of 40-0.  – Link to Website

Atheists Sue to Kill D.C. ‘In God We Trust’ Engraving – The nation’s largest group of atheists and agnostics filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block an architect from engraving “In God We Trust” and the Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington.

The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation’s lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in western Wisconsin, claims the taxpayer-funded engravings would be an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.The House and Senate passed identical resolutions this month directing the Architect of the Capitol to engrave “In God We Trust” and the pledge in prominent places at the entrance for 3 million tourists who visit the Capitol each year.- Link to Website

Is President Obama Correct: Is America No Longer a Christian Nation? – Over the past several years, President Barack Obama has repeatedly claimed that America is not a Christian nation. He asserted that while a U. S. Senator, repeated it as a presidential candidate, and on a recent presidential trip to Turkey announced to the world that Americans “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” (He made that announcement in Turkey because he said it was “a location he said he chose to send a clear message.” ) Then preceding a subsequent trip to Egypt, he declared that America was “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world” (even though the federal government’s own statistics show that less than one-percent of Americans are Muslims.

The President’s statements were publicized across the world but received little attention in the American media. Had they been carried here, the President might have been surprised to learn that nearly two-thirds of Americans currently consider America to be a Christian nation and therefore certainly might have taken exception with his remarks. But regardless of what today’s Americans might think, it is unquestionable that four previous centuries of American leaders would definitely take umbrage with the President’s statements.

Who Lost the Children? – …Where the Law of God is neglected—and it is neglected almost everywhere in churches today—all the benefits outlined above escape us. No appeal to some vaguely defined “law of love” can take the place in spiritual, moral, and ethical development that the Law of God is intended to fill. God is adamant about this. He warns us in the most severe terms that where men neglect the Law of God, the displeasure of the Lord will not be far away: “If one turns away his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination” (Proverbs 28:9). “So the Law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth” (Habakkuk 1:4). “And since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I also will forget your children” (Hosea 4:6).

Dumbest Generation Getting Dumber – The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international comparison of 15-year-olds conducted by The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that measures applied learning and problem-solving ability. In 2006, U.S. students ranked 25th of 30 advanced nations in math and 24th in science. McKinsey & Company, in releasing its report “The Economic Impact of the Achievement Gap in America’s Schools” (April 2009) said, “Several other facts paint a worrisome picture. First, the longer American children are in school, the worse they perform compared to their international peers. Whaddya mean, ‘America is not a Christian nation’? Congressmen challenge Obama assertion by drafting ‘spiritual heritage’ legislation – While Barack Obama has repeatedly claimed that the U.S. is “no longer a Christian nation,”  several members of Congress have taken a stand to boldly disagree.

A bipartisan group of 25 members of the House of Representatives earlier this month submitted H.Res. 397, which calls on Congress to affirm “the rich spiritual and religious history of our nation’s founding and subsequent history” and to designate the first week of May as America’s Spiritual Heritage Week for “the appreciation of and education on America’s history of religious faith.”

Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., specifically challenged the president’s claims that America is not a Christian nation in a news conference announcing the bill immediately following last week’s National Day of Prayer observance.

“The overwhelming evidence suggests that this nation was born and birthed with Judeo-Christian principles,” Forbes told reporters, “and I would challenge anybody to tell me that point in time when we ceased to be so, because it doesn’t exist.” The bill itself cites over 70 historical references and quotes from past presidents, Founding Fathers and Supreme Court decisions as proof that Judeo-Christian principles have been the foundation of our nation. – Link to Article

On the morning of the ever memorable 19th of April, 1775, the die was cast!!! The blood of the martyrs, in the cause of God and their country, was the cement of the Union of these States, the Colonies and gave the spring to the spirit, firmness and resolution of their fellow citizens. Hillary Clinton leaves flowers for Our Lady of Guadalupe, asks ‘Who painted it?’ –  During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay.

Mrs. Clinton was received on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. by the rector of the Basilica, Msgr. Diego Monroy. Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion.

After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

U.S. Ranked 36th Freest Press in the World – The post-9/11 world is now clearly drawn,” Reporters Without Borders said. “Destabilised and on the defensive, the leading democracies are gradually eroding the space for freedoms. The economically most powerful dictatorships arrogantly proclaim their authoritarianism, exploiting the international community’s divisions and the ravages of the wars carried out in the name of the fight against terrorism. Religious and political taboos are taking greater hold by the year in countries that used to be advancing down the road of freedom.”

“The world’s closed countries, governed by the worst press freedom predators, continue to muzzle their media at will, with complete impunity, while organisations such as the UN lose all authority over their members,” Reporters Without Borders added. “In contrast with this generalised decline, there are economically weak countries that nonetheless guarantee their population the right to disagree with the government and to say so publicly.”

Only 12% of Idahoans Would Choose Regular Public School if Given a Choice – A poll commissioned by the prestigious Friedman Foundation and co-sponsored by the Idaho Values Alliance and Education Excellence Idaho found that only 12% of Idahoans would chose a “regular public school” if they had a full range of options.

Even more striking, this figure drops to just 4% among Idahoans age 36-55, who are the chief consumers of public education services in Idaho. Said Bryan Fischer, Executive Director of the Idaho Values Alliance, “This is an astonishing number, because it tells us that the more Idaho’s parents use conventional public education, the less they like it. This is the most powerful argument possible for increasing school choice in the Gem State.”

The survey revealed that 25% of Idahoans would, however, choose charter schools, which are public schools free from much of the bureaucratic red tape that hampers education reform in conventional public schools. … – Link to Website

State Sen. Ernie Chambers Sues God – OMAHA, Neb – State Sen. Ernie Chambers is suing God. He said on Monday that it is to prove a point about frivolous lawsuits. … The lawsuit accuses God “of making and continuing to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons, including constituents of Plaintiff who Plaintiff has the duty to represent.” It says God has caused “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like.”

The suit also says God has caused “calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction.” Chambers also says God “has manifested neither compassion nor remorse, proclaiming that defendant will laugh” when calamity comes.  Chambers asks for the court to grant him a summary judgment. …-  Link to Website    

Lawsuit seeks to take ‘so help me God’ out of inaugural – A number of atheists and non-religious organizations want Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony to leave out all references to God and religion. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Washington, the plaintiffs demand that the words “so help me God” not be added to the end of the president’s oath of office.

In addition, the lawsuit objects to plans for ministers to deliver an invocation and a benediction in which they may discuss God and religion. … The new lawsuit says in part, “There can be no purpose for placing ‘so help me God’ in an oath or sponsoring prayers to God, other than promoting the particular point of view that God exists.” … –  Link to Website

Uneducated, Unethical and Unprepared to Lead – If knowledge and understanding of America’s history and founding principles are essential to the preservation of our nation, our nation is in peril. Over the last two decades, studies and surveys have been consistent in their conclusions—we are increasingly becoming a nation of know-nothings.

A recent report entitled “Our Fading Heritage: Americans Fail a Basic Test on Their History and Institutions,” released on November 20, 2008 by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI)  …Over 71 percent of participants failed the test with an average score of only 49 percent. Of the college educated, 57 percent of those with a bachelor’s degree failed the test. There were also 164 participants that disclosed that they had been elected to government office at least once. Their average score was only 44 percent. Among those who formerly held elected office, 68 percent incorrectly answered the question regarding the definition of the free enterprise system, 89 percent did not know the difference between a free market and central planning (socialism), and 85 percent did not know the source of the phrase “a wall of separation” between church and state. Perhaps these appalling results explain a lot about what is presently wrong with government at every level. …

On November 30th, the Josephson Institute released its report card on the “Ethics of American Youth” and the news is not good. The report, which is based on a survey of attitudes and behavior of 29,760 high school students nationwide, found entrenched habits of dishonesty in today’s young people.  

The report found that overall, 30 percent of America’s high school students—more than one third of the boys and over one fourth of the girls—admitted stealing from a store within the past year. When it comes to lying, 83 percent admitted to lying to their parents and 42 percent admitted to lying to save money, with boys leading the way at 49 percent and girls at 36 percent.

The survey also found that cheating in school is getting worse. Sixty-four percent admit they cheated on a test in the last year and of those, 38 percent admit doing it two or more times. …Perhaps the most disturbing finding from the survey is that 93 percent of the students said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character and 77 percent said that “when it comes to doing what is right, I am better than most people I know.”

So what should we conclude from these two reports? For at least four decades, liberal activists have removed the core historical and religious principles that previous generations of Americans were taught in school and replaced them with politically correct dogma that undermines faith, character and patriotism. Consequently, we now have a large majority of high school and college students and adults who can’t pass a straightforward civics and history test and we have rampant corruption throughout government and the private sector. –  Link to Website

Report: 92 Percent of Americans Believe in God – A study released June 23, 2008, found that 92 percent of Americans believe in God, including about one in five who say they are atheists.

The survey by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion and Public Life is the organization’s second report based on the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, one of the largest polls ever conducted on Americans’ religious views, with more than 35,000 adults interviewed.The first report, released in February, examined the religious makeup of America. The second report states that 74 percent of Americans believe in heaven and 59 percent believe in hell. Nude Virgin Mary cover prompts Playboy apology – A nude model resembling the Virgin Mary on the cover of the Mexican edition of Playboy magazine, published only days before a major Mexican festival dedicated to the mother of Jesus, prompted the company’s U.S. headquarters on Friday to apologize.

The magazine, which hit newsstands on Dec. 1 as ceremonies began leading to Friday’s pilgrimage to the Mexico City shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, showed a model wearing nothing but a white cloth over her head and breasts. Americans are dangerously ignorant of U.S. history – Consider the staggering data: …  Fully 71 percent of Americans flunked a 33-question civic-literacy survey conducted by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Among 2,508 respondents ISI randomly selected, 1,791 failed this test of U.S. historical, political and economic basics. The average score was just 49 out of 100 – a solid F. While just 2.6 percent scored B’s on this quiz, only 0.8 percent earned A’s.  Just 49 percent of rank-and-file Americans can identify the legislature, executive and judiciary as our three branches of government.  Forty percent of college graduates have no idea that corporate profits equal revenues minus expenses. (Thus, congressional demagoguery about “windfall profits” falls on sympathetic ears.) Only 24 percent of college grads realize that the First Amendment forbids the establishment of an official U.S. religion.  Amazingly enough, this sample’s 164 self-identified elected officials know even less than laymen. They averaged only 44, as the blind lead the bland. Among officeholders, 30 percent did not know that the Declaration of Independence heralds “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  – Link to Website

Michigan liberals attack Lansing congregation in the middle of Sunday worship – On Sunday morning, amidst worshiping congregants and following unifying prayers that our President-elect be granted wisdom as he prepares to lead our nation through difficult global, social and economic challenges, the Michigan left declared open war on peaceful church goers.

They did it with banners, chants, blasphemy, by storming the pulpit, by vandalizing the church facility, by potentially defiling the building with lewd, public, sex acts and by intentionally forcing physical confrontations with worshipers. A Nation Abandoned by God (Part 1 of 2) – Pastor John MacArthur – … But there’s this other category of the wrath of abandonment, it is a form of God’s wrath in which He lets go of a society and let’s it catapult full speed without restraint in the direction of its own sinful desires and devices and choices.  That’s the wrath being described here.  This is the cyclical reality of this wrath that has defined human history and will always until Jesus comes.  As Paul said, in all the generations gone by, God permitted the nations to go their own way.  

I don’t believe we’re waiting for God’s wrath in this society.  We haven’t had a massive calamity such as the destruction of an entire city, we certainly don’t want that to happen, pray that does not happen, but it could happen and God would be just in any calamity that He brought upon us.  We have not entered into eschatological wrath that comes in the end times, we are experiencing, all of us do, consequential wrath of sin.  But this massive concept of the wrath of abandonment I’m convinced is now at work in our society.  We’d like to talk about the fact that America was founded on Christian principles and God was at the center of it, and all of that, whatever it might have been in our founding, it’s no longer the way it is and I want to show you how you know that has happened. …. Somalian rape victim, 13, stoned to death – An Islamist rebel administration in Somalia has had a 13-year-old girl stoned to death for adultery after the child’s father reported that she was raped by three men.

Amnesty International said al-Shabab militia, which controls the southern city of Kismayo, arranged for 50 men to stone Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow in front of about 1,000 spectators. A lorry load of stones was brought to the stadium for the killing. Amnesty said Duhulow struggled with her captors and had to be forcibly carried into the stadium. – Link to Website

Hanged for being a Christian in Iran – Eighteen years ago, Rashin Soodmand’s father was hanged in Iran for converting to Christianity. Now her brother is in a Mashad jail, and expects to be executed under new religious laws brought in this summer. Alasdair Palmer reports. A month ago, the Iranian parliament voted in favour of a draft bill, entitled “Islamic Penal Code”, which would codify the death penalty for any male Iranian who leaves his Islamic faith. Women would get life imprisonment. The majority in favour of the new law was overwhelming: 196 votes for, with just seven against. Movie “The Passion of the Christ” – Creator of film’s score ‘battled with Satan’ – BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – John Debney is used to writing movie scores for comedies like “Liar, Liar” and “Bruce Almighty,” but he admits that composing the score for Mel Gibson’s powerful movie “The Passion of the Christ” was the most difficult assignment of his life. For it turned out to be a battle between good and evil that he had never experienced before in some 20 years in Hollywood. “I don’t think I will ever be given the opportunity to write again for a movie as powerful as this one,” he said during a recent media interview in Beverly Hills.

“I was stretched every which way but loose,” Debney said. “I was stretched by Mel Gibson. I was stretched by the Guy Upstairs and also I was stretched by the guy downstairs. What it did was completely strengthen my faith and I have realized something very interesting. I had never before subscribed to the idea that maybe Satan is a real person, but I can attest that he was in my room a lot and I know that he hit everyone on this production.” Debney said that the battle he felt with Satan as he wrote the music became “really personal between us.” – Link to Website

Mikhail Gorbachev admits he is a Christian – Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Communist leader of the Soviet Union, has acknowledged his Christian faith for the first time, paying a surprise visit to pray at the tomb of St Francis of Assisi.  …Ronald Reagan, the former United States president, allegedly told his close aides on a number of occasions that he felt his opponent during the Cold War was a “closet believer”.

Mr Reagan held deep religious convictions himself. However, until now Mr Gorbachev has allowed himself to express only pantheistic views, saying in one interview “nature is my god”.  Link to Website

Christian Coaches Face Off for Super Bowl XLI – For many people, football is religion. Superstar players are deified, weekly games are strictly observed, and everyone—devoted fan or not—watches the Super Bowl. But for Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith, football has not taken God’s place. The head coaches of the AFC champion Indianapolis Colts and the NFC champion Chicago Bears, who will lead their teams in Super Bowl XLI on Sunday, have a lot in common. As has been well documented, they share the distinction of being the first black head coaches in the Super Bowl. They are close friends, having coached together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for five years. They are also Christians.

“God is the center of my life,” Smith told the media during a Super Bowl press conference earlier this week. “It controls all that I do. I hope I don’t have to spend my time telling my players I’m a Christian. I hope they see it in my life every day.” Smith and Dungy are not just Christians when the spotlight shines on them. Handshake Man gets probation – The Rev. Rich Weaver of Sacramento, known in Washington for his uncanny – divinely inspired? – ability to penetrate security and greet presidents, pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful entry. For the next five years, while on unsupervised probation, he may not attend presidential or congressional events or set foot on the grounds of the Capitol or White House.

“I feel with all my heart that God had given me a mandate to give a message to President Bush, which I did,” Weaver told The Post’s David Montgomery after his sentencing in D.C. Superior Court. “I didn’t feel I was guilty before God, but . . . I admitted guilt under man’s laws.”

The charge dated from two years ago, when Weaver attended the National Prayer Breakfast in the Hilton Washington without a ticket and slipped Bush a message that America must repent or face severe casualties in Iraq. But the Secret Service didn’t lodge the charge until last month, several days before Bush’s second inauguration. Weaver, 59, who had a ticket to the inauguration, was unaware he was wanted when a Capitol Police officer spotted him at a security checkpoint.

In his nondenominational ministry, Weaver said under oath, he has met six presidents on 14 occasions, usually chatting with them about Jesus. He has done the same with numerous senators and professional athletes. Link to Website

The Handshake Men – Unless your profession involves Presidential security then chances are you have neither heard of Richard C. Weaver or known how and why he earned the nickname, “Handshake Man”. Wikipedia explains:

Richard C. Weaver is a mysterious Californian man known by the nickname Handshake Man. Weaver has earned notoriety for the way he is frequently able to bypass the US Secret Service and shake the hand of the American President. Weaver has allegedly been able to personally shake hands with every US President since Jimmy Carter, in some cases even multiple times on different occasions. Not much is known about Weaver other than the fact that he is apparently a strong, possibly fundamentalist Christian of some sort. He is a self-proclaimed minister of a non-denominational church in Sacramento. His handshakes are often used as a way of passing “notes from God” to the presidents. According to his site, Richard C. Weaver is a born-again christian who…believes that God has directly spoke to him and calls him a “modern day prophet.” On February 6, 2003 Weaver attended the National Prayer Breakfast meeting and was able to hand Bush an eight page typed letter about Iraq “from God.” – Link to Website

A NOTE AFTER THE PASSING OF PRESIDENT’S DAY – Providence: God, conceived of as guiding men as a race and as individuals to ends he has in view for them or as preserving individuals from danger through his prescience, loving care, or intervention.. … Is some supernatural agency in charge of history? …. President Abraham Lincoln had several visionary experiences. After learning that he’d been elected president, Lincoln twice saw a deathly image of himself in a mirror. It was an hallucination and a premonition that the presidency would spell his doom. …. There is an old idea that has been set aside today. It is the idea that all things are foreordained, that there is a divine plan. Perhaps we have been wrong to set this idea aside and forget the wisdom of our ancestors. …

In closing, I will outrage the skeptics further by mentioning a dream I experienced 23 years ago. In the dream I saw the future presidents of the United States. Their portraits were lined side by side from left to right. The first in order was Ronald Reagan who had just been elected. The second was George H. W. Bush. The next two faces I did not recognize. An old man was present in the dream and I turned to him. “Where are the others?” I asked, wanting to see the rest of the future presidents. “There are no others,” he replied. “After these the Republic ends.” – Link to Website
